During this textile art retreat in France, you will discover the colours of nature through indigo dyeing, botanical dye techniques, Shibori, Katazome, Block Printing, and Ecoprint.

Indigo with Katazome and shibori textile techniques France

In this fibre art workshop, you will discover the magic of indigo and learn two traditional Japanese resist‑dyeing techniques:

Shibori Workshop France

Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique in which fabric is folded, bound, stitched, or clamped before dyeing, producing patterns—organic or geometric—as the indigo develops.

Katazome Workshop France

Katazome is a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique in which a rice-paste resist is applied through hand-cut stencils.
The paste is spread over the fabric to protect selected areas during dyeing, allowing these sections to remain light while the exposed areas absorb the dye, traditionally indigo.

From Botanical Dye and Ecoprint to Lake Pigments and botanical inks. Workshop France –

In this Ecoprint and dye workshop, you will create botanical prints using leaves, flowers, by using natural pigments.

Ecoprint Technique

Leaves and plants are placed directly onto the fabric and steamed or boiled, allowing their shapes and pigments to transfer naturally.

Natural Dyeing & Lake Pigments

After ecoprinting, we dye the fabrics using natural plant‑based pigments. From the leftover dye bath, we create lake pigments — colourants bound to minerals to form solid pigments. These pigments are then transformed into handmade watercolours.
A unique experience for anyone seeking a textile art retreat in France with a focus on Slow craftmanship, sustainability and natural colour.

Fabrics:

We provide a thoughtfully assembled fabric package for you to work with during the workshops.
